Why do we want to have a life in Jesus?

We want to have life in Jesus because it is the will of God. Even in the beginning, God wanted us to have life. His plan for us has been and will always be for us to share his life.

This was seen in Genesis. He put two trees in the middle of the garden – the tree of knowledge and the tree of life. But he only forbade the man to eat from the tree of knowledge. He did not tell them not to eat from the tree of life.

Jesus himself said that he came to give us life. Not a miserable life – but according to him, an abundant life! The abundant life Jesus meant here is certainly not material prosperity. It can be translated as over and above. The life Jesus wants to give us is one that is over and above the one we have now. If you are living a good life now, Jesus wants to give you more than what you have right now. Our God is a super-abundant God. He gives without measure and the life he gives us will be one that we cannot measure – one that is beyond our wildest dreams.
