God's plan for human beings is for us to be fruitful and multiply. To dominate the earth – to join him in his kingship. And used properly, we move closer to the fulfillment of God's plan for us.

Malachi 3:15 says, “Has not the one God made and sustained for us the spirit of life? And what does he desire? Godly offspring. So take heed to yourselves, and let none be faithless to the wife of your youth.”

This passage shows us that the purpose of marriage is not only pro-creation. It is to raise up godly children. The family is to be a small church where children learn from their parents – specially fathers, about God. It is where God's love is made visible from the love of the father and the mother. It is where children learn to submit to God by honoring their parents. It is where they learn to give glory to God.
