St Paul says, For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For us to really be sons of God, we need to be led by the Spirit. the gospel tells us, right after his baptism, Jesus was led by the Spirit to the desert to be tempted. St. Mark used a more powerful word. He said that Spirit DROVE Jesus to the desert. The same is true for those who live by the Spirit. Those who live in the Spirit are controlled by the Spirit. The Spirit transforms them and enables them to live holy lives Years ago, I was doing research on baptism and discovered there are two words for baptism in the original Greek language. Both are used in recipes found during the time of St. Paul. One word, bapto means to wash with water. The other baptizo is to soak in vinegar. If webapto a cucumber, we wash the outside. But if we baptizo a cucumber it is transformed into a pickle. The change is both external and internal. Similary for us, if we are baptised in the Spirit, we are soaked in the Spirit such that our inner self is transformed.
