Holy Spirit is the Guarantee |

Paul says he is the one who guarantees our adoption as sons and daughters of God. Ephesians 1 say: In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. The Holy Spirit is a deposit to guarantee our inheritance. When we buy something of value, we make a deposit on it, guaranteeing we will purchase it. By giving us the Spirit, the Father is telling us we are valuable to him and he has given us an inheritance. The Holy Spirit reminds us of this inheritance. The Holy Spirit is a gift from the Father. Quite interesting that the Father is giving a person as a gift. First, he gives us Jesus to die for us, then he gives us his Spirit as a gift to ensure we attain our inheritance. The Spirit of Sonship
Romans 8:15-16 says, For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, Abba! Father! it is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God The Spirit himself tells everyone we are adopted children of God. If the Spirit of Truth says you are a child of God, then whether you like it or not, you are a child of God! The question is - do you believe this truth? Since you are a child of God, you do not need to be afraid of coming to him. He loves you so much he wants you to call him Daddy. Before I knew God, I tried avoiding evil things because I was afraid of going to hell or at least being punished for doing something wrong. There was this fear in me. God was a policeman waiting to arrest me when I break the law. But when I realized God wants to be my Father in fact, is my Father, everything changed. Since we are children of God, we obey because we love him! BUT calling God as our Father is just the beginning. |
